SAMIR POV

6:00 PM

*Before they met*

I was finishing combing my dark hair with a comb looking at the car mirror, to make sure I looked good to meet Kriti, Maya is driving us to prom. I was sitting next to her as she drove. She seems to be very excited.

A few minutes later she parked the car at the car park and we both got out of the car.

"Hey? Do I look good?" I asked her.

"Don't worry Sam you look absolutely handsome she won't be able to take her eyes off you all night" she says with a smirk.

Her comment made my cheeks turn red.

"I hope so.." I muttered quietly.

"What was that?" She asked with a confusion in her eyes.

"Nothing. It's nothing, let's get going, we don't want to keep her waiting" I replied.

"Yeah, you're right," She said.

We went inside as we stepped into the beautiful hall covered with decorations of flowers, candles and fairy lights.

My footsteps halted to a stop seeing Kriti for the first time in person.

My breath caught inside my throat.

She looked absolutely breathtaking in that gorgeous red dress which made her look like a Queen.

Her dark wavy hair is down which frames her sweet heart shaped face perfectly, her eyes decorated with a black eyeliner and her lips painted with a pinkish nude colour.

I stopped daydreaming once my gaze caught Maya hugging her and they were talking.

Maya was about to introduce me when I approached them and interrupted her with a calm look with a soft smile.

"Hi, I am Samir Maya's cousin," I said.

I then noticed my cousin rolling her eyes which made me chuckle inside but my attention was on Kriti.

My eyes locked to her beautiful mahogany eyes that looked like fine wine.

My heart is pounding in my chest.

I noticed she was suddenly startled as her cheeks heated up in embarrassment.

I guess she heard? But why didn't she say anything back?

"I am so sorry! I didn't mean to keep you waiting! She blurted out all of sudden.

Before I could reply, I heard her sigh as she gazed back at me "I am really sorry, I just have a lot on my mind right now. I'm Kriti by the way, Maya's best friend" she spoke softly.

Her response made me respond to her words with a soft smile with understanding as I replied back and couldn't help myself by saying "Don't worry about it. I think it's cute"

"C-cute!?" she stuttered in surprise and shock, her face turned red.

Making me realise, I just said that out loud without thinking.

This caused my cheeks to paint themselves red.

"I- uh-" I stammered.

Before I could say anything else, Maya tuned in "Why don't you two get to know each other more. Maybe go and have a dance together", teasing us both with a wink.

Then she walks away from us with her male friend Aarav, leaving the two of us alone with the deep tension between us.

When I looked back at her I realised that I must have made her uncomfortable as she was not looking at me but at the floor instead.

I then cleared my throat which caused her to look back up at me.

My cheeks are still red after the situation. So, I just gave her a shy smile and said "Sorry if I made you uncomfortable".

I then saw her beautiful angelic face light up with a sweet smile.

"It's okay, you don't need to apologise. It's just that no one has called me that before. So, I was just surprised that's all". She responded sweetly.

Her voice is like music to my ears which I can compose with any instrument.

"Really? You're okay with me calling you cute" I asked, trying to make sure that she really is comfortable with it and meant it, shocked by her response.

"Yeah" I replied.

I smiled as I offered my hand to her "Will you have this dance with me?" I asked.

I noticed she was surprised by my question but she ended up smiling and nodded with shyness in her mahogany eyes.

"S-sure" she said, putting her hand on top of mine as I whisked her off to the dance floor.

*20 minutes later*

An idea popped in my mind as I danced with her, I looked into her eyes and asked "Would you like me to get us some drinks? You must be thirsty from all this dancing" I asked her.

I saw her pause for a moment thinking and she nodded. "Yeah, that sounds good. I am feeling a little thirsty right now" She replied, her eyes twinkling in the dim colourful lights.

I nodded and said "Stay here, I will be right back with the drinks.

She nodded as I left to go get the drinks where the drinks were.

A few minutes later, when I went back with the drinks to where she was, I didn't notice where she was as I didn't see her.

I looked everywhere for her, then, I looked out the window seeing that it started to rain.

After a moment, something caught my eyes.

It was her.

She was in her rain in the garden, her eyes closed as if she was letting the raindrops envelop her as a beautiful smile was planted delicately on her face.

My heart starts beating quickly.

After a few minutes of staring at her.

I put the drinks down on the table near me and walked outside towards her in the rain.

My kurta and hair got wet as I approached her but I didn't care, it was like time just stopped.

Just a few centimeters away from her, I cleared my throat loud enough for her to hear.

Her eyes quickly responded by fluttering open as she looked up at me with a warm smile.

"Sorry, I just love the rain," She said.

"It's fine" I replied

She then asked me a question I didn't expect.

"Will you dance with me here?" She asked as the sound of raindrops fell to the ground.

My eyes widened in surprise. "Oh sure" I said, taking her hands into mine and pulling her into dance.

I spined her as I caught her in my arms just after the rain stopped but I didn't notice as I was just distracted in my own world where it's just the two of us with my eyes locked to hers.

Out of nowhere her phone rings startling the two of us.

I let her go quickly as she picked up her phone but her smile faded.

She looked up at me "I am sorry but I have to go. Bye" after saying this she just walks away leaving me speechless.

After a few minutes of processing I yelled out "wait!"

But it was too late, she was already gone.
